Yahoo Mail beats Gmail

There has been free email around for virtually all the time that the internet has been in existence. By far the most famous is the Microsoft creation of Hotmail, followed by Yahoo and Google. It was expected to be the battle to end all battles and at first Google’s gmail had cornered the market simply because it their marketing.

By making it invitation only the fight was on to get one and in fact at one time some people were selling the invitations on such sites as ebay and they made a good profit from their 100 invitations.

However the tables have turned and there are many more people that require more than just Google and for this reason there has been a rise in the visitors to Yahoo mail over the Christmas period than there were visitors to the Google mail. Whatever the reasons it would seem that there are still people who use free email and it probably still is the most popular online applications.
