Need Extra Bandwidth?
Most people would answer yes to that, but is it really possible? Well most broadband services never provide the stated amount when you sign up for you package, so 100% of the bandwidth is virtually impossible.
However with Windows XP it may be possible to get an extra 20%, this is because of the QoS Scheduler, this always reserves 20% of the bandwidth, so how do you get that back?
1. Start > Click “Run” and type gpedit.msc, click OK.
2. Click “Computer Configuration” > “Administrative Templates > Network
3. Click “QoS Packet Scheduler” > and Double Click on “Limit Reservable Bandwidth”
4. After you’ve double clicked, you’ll see a pop up. Click on “Enabled” and type 0 (zero) in the Bandwidth limit. Click Ok
5. Now go to “Control Panel” > “Network and Internet Connections” > right click on your connection and Chose “Properties” and then click on the box “QoS Packet Scheduler”
6. Restart your computer.
It could be worth a go!
