Surprise, Google tracks surfing habits

At the end of every year it has been regular feature that the search giant Google publishes its yearly list of popular searches, nothing strange about that. However, this has prompted fears that in order to produce a list like this, they must be gathering search data.

This always brings up the subject about what happens every time that a user enters a search term into the Google search engine, it is also bolstered by the features available like history etc, where with on click the user search history is displayed in full.

It is a matter of information, but is it that bad that search firms like Google, Microsoft and Yahoo keep records of all searches made through their services for an indefinite period. It has to be a matter of personal preference and of course what the user searches for.
