How to know that someone is on your network

Having your own home wireless network is a great thing, it means that you can use the internet almost anywhere within your home or business and in some cases even outside. However, because you can access your wireless network outside of the premises, then so can other people.

So how could you tell if your next-door neighbour or that car parked outside is accessing your internet connection and possible even downloading illegal content?

There some tools out there which can do this, but they do tend to be on the expensive side, some costing around £300 and they may not be able to do the job that you expect them to be doing.

The easiest way it check your own wireless router, these do sometimes have some defences in place, it worth checking, but in case you feel that you need this protection then you might want to check these out:

Three recommended network defences
AntiARP
Capsa
