Stolen PS3 tracked through PSN

Buying a second hand PS3 is not always the best way of obtaining a new games console as one person in the US found, when his girlfriend bought a PS3 from a second hand games store.

Having used the console several times the new owner was surprised to get a knock on the door by the police who inquired as to whether he had a PS3 or not.

What had happened is the previous owners PSN ID was still stored in the unit and every time it was turned on the auto login attempted to get onto the PSN, by tracking the IP address the police were able to find the stolen PS3.

Although he was totally innocent, the PS3 was confiscated. However, the store did offer him a consolation prize of an Xbox 360, he turned do their offer!
