Mozilla gets world record certificate

The people behind Mozilla were in London to meet up with the official from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Tristan Nitot the President of Mozilla Europe was on hand to receive the certificate from the records manager of internet and technology at the Guinness Book of Records, Gareth Deaves.

On the certificate was written exactly what the record was:

From 18:16 UTC on June 17, 2008 to 18:16 UTC on June 18, 2008, 8,002,530 people downloaded Firefox 3!

There is no doubt that this has been a great piece of marketing strategy, but at the same time you simply cannot get away from the fact that over eight million people downloaded Firefox 3 in a twenty four hour period.
