Computer problem slows train ticketing

Yet another computer failure has seen huge queues of the travelling public form in the USA. This time the problem hit Penn Station, in New York.

The error was said to have been a nationwide computer problem that affected the ticket counters of Amtrak, large lines of passengers began to form as staff struggled to cope with having to write the tickets out by hand.

What has made this problem worse, is once again the waiting passengers were not informed clearly enough as to what the problem was and how long it would take to fix. Amtrak had discovered the problems early as Saturday night and were in the process of replacing the equipment.

Fortunately there are minimal delays for the weary travellers who by now are getting used to being left in dark about problems.
