What do you do with your old computer?

I have seen them outside waiting for the refuge collectors to come by, and at the local tips there are often quite a few hanging here and there, but what happened to the data stored on the computer?

Naturally it was all erased, the files and documents deleted, everything else is sent to the recycle bin and the hard drive has been reformatted, which means that all that information has now gone. You would be wrong if you thought that, there are parts of the data still hanging around, information that could be used in stealing your identity.

There is some great software out there, like eraser, sdelete and overwrite, these completely remove the data from the hard drive, leaving you safe.

Of course you always take the hard drive out drill a couple holes through it and smash it up with a hammer!
