Your computer and the law

The internet has been a place with no real rules and has grown on a global scale without the intervention of governments and other organisations. But this freedom has created a separate society from the rest of world.

But now there are moves to bring in laws to the internet and you could be breaking those laws without even knowing it, but just in case here are some pointers:

Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
No Electronic Theft (NET) Act
Court rulings regarding border searches
State laws regarding access to networks
“Tools of a crime” laws
“Cyber stalking” laws
Internet Gambling laws
Security Breach Disclosure laws
Community Broadband Act of 2007
Pro IP Act

So maybe it is time that we began to keep an eye on the lawmakers, just in case!
