DVD releases matched on iTunes

In a deal which is likely to upset all retailers around the world eventually, but will definitely annoy many of the retailers who sell film DVD’s as Apple have agreed terms with the major the film distribution companies to sell through the iTunes store all of the latest films releases in line with the release date on DVD.

The deal will be with 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment, First Look Studios and many more, which actually makes up the bilk of all films, particularly the main film releases.

This new deal will start in the US first, but is bound to spread across the entire iTunes site. These will include “American Gangster,” “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.” Other popular titles now available for purchase include “Juno,” “Cloverfield,” “I Am Legend,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” as for the cost of these films, new releases priced at $14.99 and most catalog titles at $9.99.
