The Times is a spammer

It seems that News Corp could be making some news of its own, with The Sun and The Times being the headline news, as both of these established titles have been implicated in a spamming scam.

By employing a search engine management company both these titles entrusted their reputations in a hope that they would be getting a great search engine position, which they have. But the company that they asked to do the job for them Sitelynx went about the whole process the wrong way, whether it was on purpose or by accident one of their now ex-employees has been caught out spamming on social networking sites.

It takes the form of posting links to the online versions of the newspapers, on Mahalo, Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Metafilter, Yahoo! Answers, Ma.gnolia, and Netscape’s Propeller, this has disappointed many people including the people in charge of marketing at the newspapers, it just goes to show that you never can tell.
