Top Secret Computer Database Stolen
The UK security services have shot themselves in the foot once more, with a computer server that was used to store top secret phone records used in police investigations, was stolen from a private contractor.
The server and other computer equipment were stolen from the head office of Forensic Telecommunication Services Ltd of Sevenoaks in Kent. This will provoke many questions regarding security matters and in particular the fact that there are private firms carrying out this type of work for the government.
The pieces of equipment is not worth very much as they are, but the content if found could contain records of phone calls which have been made on mobile phones, along with the locations, times and dates. The records will be related to police investigations into terrorism, and major crime, which includes, murder, kidnap, robbery, tax evasion and illegal immigration.
If this data could be listed it would be very valuable to many different organisations, who would no doubt be willing to pay quite a lot of money for something like this.
